The latest Product Recalls & safety updates

What is affected?

COURANT has issued a recall for spliced KALIMBA ropes.

The recall relates to the current splice design. The rope itself is not affected.

What should I do?

If you own a spliced KALIMBA rope:

  1. Stop using the rope immediately.
  2. Contact us to arrange an approved replacement solution.
  3. Have any proof of purchase, product reference, rope length and serial/batch number available if possible.

We will offer an approved replacement solution.

COURANT has approved replacement options.

Why has the product been recalled?

Following several field incidents, COURANT identified that if the stitching used in the current splice design is missing, damaged or altered, the integrity of the splice may be compromised.

As a precautionary safety measure, COURANT has decided to discontinue this splice design and replace it with a new reinforced splice construction.

I purchased my rope from Dick Leigh LLP. What do I do next?

Please contact our team and we will guide you through the replacement process. We may ask for:

  • Customer details
  • Proof of purchase (where available)
  • Rope length
  • Serial or batch number (where available)

Need help?

If you have any questions regarding the recall or whether your rope is affected, please contact our team and we will be happy to assist.

ISC has issued a Product Support Update following reports of performance fade and slippage in some devices.

Their investigation found that a number of factors can affect device performance, including rope condition, contamination, operating conditions and component wear. They have also identified accelerated wear on critical rope-engaging components in some returned devices, which may contribute to reduced grabbing performance and slippage.
Users should regularly inspect their device and monitor for any signs of performance fade, reduced grabbing performance, or increased slippage. If any concerns cannot be resolved through inspection, cleaning, or maintenance, the device should be removed from service and ISC contacted directly.
